How to Activate a Cell Phone Mic

Activate your cell phone headset microphone

When using a headset microphone with your cell phone, you need to activate it so your phone knows to use the specific device instead of the built-in microphone. Doing so is not complicated and is usually the same basic setup procedure with all phones. The only difference to note is whether you are using a wired microphone or a bluetooth microphone.

Things You'll Need

• Cell phone
• Headset microphone

Instructions

Wired Microphone

1. Plug the microphone into the headset jack.

2. Press the "Menu" button on the phone, then select "Devices."

3. Select "Activate." The cell phone now plays and receives all the audio content through the microphone headset.

Wireless Headset

1. Power on the wireless microphone.

2. Press the "Menu" button on the phone. Select "Bluetooth."

3. Choose "Scan for available bluetooth devices." Once the cell phone detects your microphone, the product name appears on the screen.

4. Select the product and choose "Pair" from the options. You are now prompted to type in a four-digit number. This sync number is found in the microphone's user manual and is specific to the device.

5. Press "OK" and the phone syncs and activates the bluetooth microphone.
