Photoshop is popular graphics software created by Adobe Systems. Photoshop allows users to create and edit photographs and other digital image files in a wide variety of formats, including JPEG, PNG and TIFF. The stroke effect is used in Photoshop and other graphics programs to add and alter the properties of borders applied to shapes and layers. Activating this effect is quick and easy in Photoshop.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a new document, or open an existing document, in Adobe Photoshop.

    • 2

View the Layers toolbar. Click the "Window" item in the menu near the top of the screen and select the option labeled "Layers."

    • 3

Double-click the layer or shape to which you want to apply stroke. This action opens the Layer Style dialog box.

    • 4

Apply an initial stroke by clicking the box containing the word "Stroke," located near the bottom-left corner of the Layer Style dialog box. Adjust the stroke properties to suit your needs by adjusting the values that appear in the middle part of the dialog box. Click "OK" to apply the properties to the layer or shape and finalize your stroke.
