How to Install Glasspacks on 94 Mustang
When you want to make the exhaust on your Mustang louder and throatier, the best way to do it is to remove the stock mufflers and weld in a glasspack. These are straight-through mufflers with minimal sound deadening, typically tuned to bring all of the sound out of the exiting air from the engine. Installing these, though, involves welding and cutting, and if you're not confident with your welding skills, this may not be the best project for you.
Things You'll Need
- Jack
- Jack stands
- Reciprocating saw and metal cutting blades
- Glasspack muffler
- MIG welder
- Welding helmet
- Welding gloves

1
Raise the vehicle up in the air using the jack and secure it on jack stands. Double check that the vehicle is secure prior to crawling underneath it. Locate the stock muffler. Cut the exhaust tubing behind and in front of the muffler using the reciprocating saw and the metal cutting blades.

2
Put on the welding helmet and gloves. Hold the glasspack in place where the muffler was located, then tack weld the glasspack to the existing exhaust tubing. A tack weld is a quick, short weld just to hold the metal together, but is not meant to be permanent. Adjust the position of the muffler if necessary.

3
Fully weld the perimeter of the glasspack to the exhaust tubing on both sides using the MIG welder. Then start the vehicle. If you hear an exhaust leak around the glasspack, then reweld in that area. Then lower the vehicle off of the jack stands with the jack.
