Fake fur

Fake fur is a type of textile fabric that is made to look like real fur. It is far less expensive than real fur and is often substituted for the real thing. Like real fur, it is very warm, so it is often used to line coats, boots, hats and gloves. Changing the color of fake fur is the last step of the manufacturing process. Fake fur can be dyed any color with acrylic paint.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour the water into a large paint tray.

    • 2

Add acrylic paint in the color you desire.

    • 3

Mix the water and paint together.

    • 4

Put on a pair of latex gloves.

    • 5

Get a bristle hair brush and dip it into the paint.

    • 6

Use the brush to paint the fur, starting at the edges of the fur and then working your way inward. Make sure to paint the backing that the fur is attached to as well.

    • 7

Make sure to paint evenly over the whole piece of fur. Paint on as many coats as it takes to get the shade you want.

    • 8

Use a hair dryer on the fur for 30 minutes once you've achieved the right shade. You won't completely dry the fur with the blow dryer, but you will get the drying process started.

    • 9

Brush out any tangles you might see as you blow dry the fur.

    • 10

      Let the fur dry overnight.

    • 11

The next day, rinse the fur with water and fabric softener. This will take out any stickiness from the paint.

    • 12

Put the fur in the clothes dryer, and set it to the spin cycle.

    • 13

Take the fur out of the dryer, brush it out again, and hang it out to dry.
