Instructions

    • 1

Use flowers of the bride's choosing to match the season of the year, the colors of the wedding or just the preferences of the bride. Remove any leaves, thorns or unattractive petals.

    • 2

Trim the stems of the flowers to the desired length, as requested by the bride, using the scissors. Soak the stems in water until you need to add them to the bouquet.

    • 3

Gather up several of the main flowers for the bride's fresh flower bouquet. Intersperse other flowers or greenery if desired. Turn the bouquet and examine it. Look for holes or any places that need fixing or rearranging.

    • 4

Wrap the whole bunch of stems using the floral tape. Hold the beginning end of the tape down with one thumb. Pull the tape lightly to stretch it and make it stick to itself. Turn the bouquet with one hand while you wrap the floral tape with the other.

    • 5

Keep wrapping neatly down the entire length of the stems until you get to the end. Cut the end of the floral tape and stick it to itself to hold it in place.

    • 6

Begin at the top of the bouquet and start to wrap the stems with ribbon. Hold the beginning end of the ribbon with one thumb and start wrapping the ribbon around and around until you reach the end of the stems.

    • 7

Cut the ribbon leaving a 6-inch tail. Thread the tail of the ribbon up through some of the wrapped ribbon to hold it in place.

    • 8

Use another portion of ribbon to tie a bow at the top of the stems, just under the flowers to complete the fresh flower bouquet for the bride.

Tips & Warnings

  • Plan to make the fresh flower bouquet no more than a day before the wedding. Try to make it the day of the wedding, if possible, for the best results.

  • Store fresh bouquets in the refrigerator to prolong the life of the flowers.
