Use the Microsoft Photo Editor to edit your photos

If you want to view photos in Windows XP, your best bet is to use the "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" that comes installed by default. If you have not installed any other image editing software, you can run the Picture and Fax viewer by simply double-clicking any picture file on your hard drive. However, if you'd like to use the now outdated Microsoft Photo Editor, you'll have to download the software (for free) from the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the "Microsoft Photo Editor Download" link in the Resources section.

    • 2

Double-click the "microphotoed.exe" file you downloaded, click "OK" to the "Open Executable File?" alert and click "Run" in the "Open File - Security Warning" alert window.

    • 3

Click "OK" in the self-extracting ZIP file window. The program will then install itself.

    • 4

Navigate to the folder where Microsoft Photo Editor unzipped. Double-click "PHOTOED.EXE" to run the Microsoft Photo Editor.
