After you have created a professional resume and cover letter, you need to make a list of businesses to send your resume to. Your resume should have relevant work history and should look professional, with special attention paid to detail.

Always double-check spelling and grammar and be sure to include your design skills and a link to any online projects that you have completed.

You will need to get matching resume paper and extra paper to print your cover letters onto. The envelopes should match as well. Consider spending a little extra money on linen paper or other quality resume paper.

You will need to call ahead and get a list of contact people that you want to send your resume to. Obtain contact names at temp agencies as well so that you can mail them resumes. Sometimes, it is OK to hand-deliver a resume to an agency or business, especially in this economy.

This could show that you are eager and will help place a face with the resume. Never deliver a resume in street clothes; be professionally dressed and well-groomed to take on this task.

Go to the websites of companies and temp agencies that you want to work for and create an online profile. Once you create a profile, most sites allow you to upload a resume and cover letter. You will also be able to look as well as apply for jobs that you qualify for.

Create an online profile through Careerbuilder.com and Monster.com. You can upload resumes and cover letters and store them in their databases. Search the Careerbuilder.com and Monster.com websites for possible jobs and apply.

These websites update their sites daily, so check often and sign up for their job alerts.
