How Do I Stop My DSL Computer From Connecting to the Internet Automatically?

Configuring your computer to your preferences is an important part of the computing experience. While many users prefer to have their Internet connections completely active the entire time their system is on, others do not. Changing this preference requires only that you modify the startup preferences of your operating system. This can be accomplished in less than 10 minutes using the tools built into your operating system.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Start" menu and press the "Run" button.

2. Type in "msconfig" and press "Enter."

3. Open the "Startup" tab.

4. Uncheck the box next to the listing for your DSL Internet connection.

5. Press "OK" and reboot your computer.
