How to Make a Paper Thimble
A thimble is a useful tool for any seamstress or quilter. With a thimble on her finger, a crafter can be sure to never prick her finger with a needle. Although thimbles can easily be found in craft supply stores, they can cost more than some people would like to pay. Fortunately, it is incredibly easy to make an inexpensive paper thimble at home. With a small piece of paper and a little bit of folding, anybody can make a paper thimble in just a few seconds.

1
Cut a piece of paper that is 2 inches square.
-
2
Fold the square in half diagonally, bringing the upper right corner down to meet the lower left corner. You should now have a triangle of paper.
-
-
3
Measure 1/4 inch down from the widest angle of the triangle, and draw a straight line across that area.
-
4
Fold the left point of the triangle up to the right so that the side meets up with the pencil line just below the wide angle.
-
5
Fold the right point up to the left so that it meets the pencil line as well.
-
6
Fold the front layer of the wide angle of the triangle down, creasing it at the pencil line.
-
7
Fold the second layer of the wide angle backwards, and crease it. Open the thimble by pulling the two layers apart at the top. Secure the thimble with tape, if desired.
