Instructions

    • 1

Plug in the iron, and set it to medium-high heat.

    • 2

Lay the tuxedo jacket face up on the ironing board.

    • 3

Fold the fabric of the tuxedo jacket in the place where you want to put creases. Traditonally, the creases go at the lapels of the jacket. To crease the lapels, fold them back so that the outer edge extends just about a quarter of an inch before the halfway point between the collar and the shoulder of the jacket. The lapels should be exactly the same on each side. Generally speaking, the lapels should be no larger than three and a half inches at their widest point.

    • 4

Spray your soft, clean white cloth with water until it is lightly damp.

    • 5

Lay the cloth on the jacket, on top of the crease that you have created, allowing the damp cloth to touch the fabric of the tuxedo jacket.

    • 6

Place the iron on the damp cloth and begin moving it back and forth, ironing the crease into the jacket through the cloth. Keep the iron moving as you go, making sure that you don't leave the iron in one place for too long. This can burn the fabric of the cloth and possibly, the jacket.

    • 7

Repeat steps 3 through 6 with any other areas on the tuxedo jacket that you want to crease.

    • 8

Unplug the iron and set it aside, allowing it to cool before putting it away.

    • 9

Hang the tuxedo jacket on a hanger and allow it to cool before wearing or storing it.
