Email is a vital component of business communication

Yahoo Mail is an Internet-based email service. You access your mail box and read, send, and manage your messages through a web browser such as Internet Explorer. Outlook is an email and contact management utility, and a version is available with the Office 2007 suite of programs. If you use Outlook to connect to an email server to download and send emails, and to centralize an address book of contacts, you might want to configure Outlook to download your Yahoo Mail messages so all of your emails can be stored and managed from one program interface.

Tips & Warnings

  • Copy the POP3 and SMTP server names from Yahoo Mail's information pages and paste them into the configuration windows in Outlook when requested (Step 4) to ensure accuracy.

  • The names of the POP3 and SMTP servers have to be typed in accurately or connections to them will fail. Emails will not be retrieved or sent.

  • Type your Yahoo account password carefully as this is a common cause of failure.
