How to Design an iPhone Application
IPhone application design is one area of constant growth in software development. Produced by Macintosh, the iPhone is a mobile device that combines the function of media player and Internet platform. Applications, or "apps," are the software programs uploaded to iPhones that allow for certain specialized tasks, like listening to the radio and accessing your bank account. After designing the application, you will need to write the code in Cocoa programming, which is the code-writing platform for all Apple applications. Macintosh sells a Developer Program that brings together all the resources to design and develop an application.

Survey the applications available on the iTunes App Store. Feedback to apps will be available on the iTunes review pages, message boards, discussion threads, Mac-focused and tech magazines, and other publications. Find weaknesses or insufficiencies in the apps that are available.

Brainstorm an app concept. Preferably, the app will touch on several of the unique capacities of the iPhone (Web access, media player), while remaining familiar.

Draw a template for your application. Try to keep in mind an inexperienced user who has little time to adapt to a complicated design. Apple users usually place stock in intuitive, user-friendly designs.

Compare your template to related applications. Incidentally, similarities in terminology or design might occur, but you will need to refine these out of your design to avoid copyright infringement.

Write the code for your iPhone application. Consider hiring a technician to write the code for you. Upload the iPhone app to the iTunes App Store.
