How to Replace the Battery on a Sony Peg-Ux50

You can change a dead battery yourself.

In the hustle and bustle of every day life, the last thing you want is your PDA on the fritz. If it seems like your Sony Clie Peg-Ux50 can't hold its charge, it may be time to change the battery. While it might seem like your PDA is manufactured to stay closed, replacing the battery yourself is easy if you have an eyeglass or precision screwdriver.

Things You'll Need

• 5-prong screwdriver or flathead precision screwdriver

Instructions

1. Unscrew the four screws on the back of the handheld as well the single screw near the hinge.

2. Remove the back cover carefully. You can leave the speaker wire attached; it will not inhibit your ability to change the battery.

3. Use the black pull tab to pull out the battery.

4. Unplug the battery cable and replace with the new battery.

5. Replace the back housing cover, and secure the five screws back in place.

Tips & Warnings

• You can get a precision screwdriver in a jewelry or eyeglass repair set.

• Do not use metal instruments to pry out the battery, or you may find yourself on the receiving end of a very unpleasant shock.
