How to Disable an Apple Mobile Device
Whether you're traveling or simply at a public event, temporarily disabling your phone is important to prevent interruptions and also to comply with airline regulations. To disable your Apple iPhone, you have the option of simply powering it off or setting the device to "Airplane" mode. In Airplane mode, all wireless features--including calls, text messages and the Internet--are disabled and can easily be restored by turning off the setting.

Press the "Home" button on your iPhone, and tap the "Settings" icon on the screen.

Slide your finger over the switch on the "Airplane Mode" tab so that it reads "ON."

Press the "Home" button to return to the main menu.

Press and hold the "Power" button at the top of the phone until the "Slide to Power Off" bar appears.

Glide your finger across the red arrow bar to turn off the phone.
