If you use a proxy server in your Web browser settings, you may want to view the current settings to check the configuration accuracy. Firefox and Internet Explorer both accept proxy server configurations that allow you to connect to a remote server for browsing the Internet. A proxy server is a computer on your network that funnels Web traffic. The server makes it easy for administrators to maintain website access.

Instructions

  1. Internet Explorer

      Open Internet Explorer and click the "Tools" menu item. In this menu, click the "Internet Options" option.

      Click the "Connections" tab. In this screen, click the "LAN Settings" button to open your proxy server settings.

      View the settings in this screen. Your Web server settings are indicated in the section labeled "HTTP." The computer name or IP address is your proxy server.

    Firefox

      Open Firefox and click the "Tools" menu item. Select "Options" from the list of menu items. This opens your Firefox property window.

      Click the "General" tab. In this window, click the "Connection Settings" to view your proxy server settings.

      View the proxy server name in the text box labeled "HTTP." This is your proxy server settings for your Internet connectivity.
