How to Shoot Crossbows
Crossbows are medieval, deadly weapons that shoot quarrels, arrows or bolts by a bow that is mounted on a stock. In order to get consistently good aim with your crossbow shots, it is crucial that you practice the same technique every time you shoot. Practice on a target to perfect your crossbow shot, and always make sure to practice in a safe place.

1
Place the crossbow on the built-in stirrup, resting it on the ground. Place your foot in the stirrup and carefully pull the bowstring toward the cocking mechanism. Make sure you pull the bowstring with a steady pressure and pull it to the same setting each time you practice. You can remember where you set it last time if you simply mark the string with a permanent marker.
-
2
Hold the string while setting it into the cocking mechanism. When it is secure, you will hear a click.

3
Load the crossbow with an ammo of your choice by placing it into the designated slot.
-
4
Raise the crossbow to aim at a target that is 20 yards away. If you are right-handed, use your left arm to hold the crossbow steady by placing it underneath. Use your right hand to grasp the trigger area. You will get a more accurate shot the further away the weapon is from your body.

5
Look into the sight that's mounted on the crossbow to aim at the target. Hold the crossbow solid and steady. Take a long, deep breath in. On the exhale, squeeze the trigger with your index finger. As you shoot, flex your body so that it is sturdy and don't jump at the sudden jolt.
