How to Clean a Kitchen Aid Range Top

How to Clean a Kitchen Aid Range Top thumbnail
Clean your glass stovetop properly to prevent damage.

KitchenAid electric range tops have a flat, glass surface for cooking. The flat surface makes cleaning the cooking surface less time consuming than cleaning a traditional stove. Cleaning traditional stovetops requires removing the burners and drip pans. Improperly cleaning the glass on a KitchenAid range top will irrevocably damage the cooking surface. Besides looking bad, scratches in the glass compromise the integrity of the stove. The glass can crack from excessive heat, heavy cooking pots or when cookware is accidentally dropped onto the surface. If you do need to replace the glass cooktop, replacement pieces are available for purchase. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 1 tbsp. of cooktop cleanser onto the KitchenAid range top. Several cooktop cleansers specifically manufactured for glass cooktops are available for purchase.

    • 2

Use a damp paper towel or cellulose sponge to rub the cooktop cleaner over the stovetop. Do not use an abrasive cleanser or scouring pad to scrub dry food from the cooktop surface, which will only scratch the stovetop glass.

    • 3

Hold a cooktop scraper flat against the KitchenAid range top surface, and gently scrape away any dried or burnt-on food. Wipe the scraper clean as food particles accumulate on it.

    • 4

Use a clean, damp paper towel to wipe all of the grease and food particles from the stovetop.

    • 5

Pour 1 tsp. of the cooktop cleaner onto the KitchenAid stovetop. Use a clean, damp paper towel to spread the cleanser evenly over the glass cooktop.

    • 6

Use a dry paper towel to buff the stovetop.

    • 7

Pull the control knobs from the KitchenAid range top. Wash them in warm water with mild dish soap. Dry thoroughly, and push them back onto the metal pin they rest on.

Tips & Warnings
