How To Get the Volume Control on the Taskbar

You may like to have quick access to control of your music volume. Changing it generally requires going into the control panel, finding the system volume settings and adjusting the volume there. If you'd like a quicker method, add an icon on your taskbar at the bottom of the page. On a Mac, the speaker icon appears at the top right, in the same row as the drop-down menus.

Instructions

PC

1. Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your screen.

2. Click "Control Panel."

3. Click "Sound, Speech and Audio Devices."

4. Click "Change the Speaker Settings" under the heading "Pick a task."

5. Select "Place volume icon in the taskbar" on the "Volume" tab.

6. Click "OK" to save the change.

Mac

1. Click on the blue apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen.

2. Select "System Preferences" in the drop-down menu.

3. Select "Sound" under the "Hardware" heading.

4. Check the option "Show volume in menu bar" at the bottom of any of the three tabs.

5. Then close "System Preferences" by clicking the red ball in the upper left corner of the panel.
