How to Donate Books in Austin, Texas

Donating your unwanted books has many benefits. It can help the environment by keeping the material out of landfills. When you donate to places such as a library, it also keeps the items circulating. Many items given to the library are passed along to schools, prisons and homeless shelters. Another added benefit---this can help unclutter your home. If you live in Austin, Texas, there are many organizations that will gladly accept your book donations.

Instructions

1. Contact your local library in the Austin area. Faulk Central Library, Carver Branch and Hampton Branch at Oak Hill are a few libraries nearby. Contact them to find out their donation policies.

2. Join Austin's Freecycle.org group. Free-cycle is a nonprofit organization that people join to give and receive free items from people in their own town. You must become a member to participate; the membership is free.

3. Donate your books to a local charity. Goodwill and Salvation Army are two organizations that welcome donations.
