How to Write a Bill of Sale for a Vehicle in Massachusetts
Buying or selling a vehicle in the state of Massachusetts requires a formal bill of sale be created to document the sale. The bill of sale is what is used to title the vehicle into the buyer's name. It is not used by the state to determine the assessment of the sales tax due on the vehicle. Instead, the state uses the blue book value of the vehicle to assess sales tax due on the purchase. Making your own bill of sale is easy to do.
