Trying to remove an inspection safety sticker with your bare hands can result in a futile struggle. The adhesive on the stickers is designed to keep it in place when exposed to temperature extremes. Fortunately, you can remove the sticker quickly and easily with a sharp implement and some commercial glass cleaner.

Things You'll Need

  • Utility knife with a new razor blade installed
  • Liquid glass cleaner
  • Lint-free towel

Instructions

    • 1

Spray the sticker with a liberal amount of liquid glass cleaner to wet it. Wipe any excess cleaner away with the towel to prevent it from dripping onto the dashboard.

    • 2

Grab a corner of the sticker and pull it out and down to remove it. If the adhesive remains firm, use the razor blade in the utility knife to remove it.

    • 3

Hold the utility knife with the razor blade pointing at a 45 degree angle to the windshield. Gently place the edge of the razor blade underneath the sticker and make a short downward motion to remove the sticker. Repeat this motion as you peel back the sticker with your other hand.

    • 4

Spray more glass cleaner on the sticker if you meet with resistance. Use the glass cleaner to remove any remaining adhesive residue once the sticker is fully removed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have glass cleaner, you can use any type of cleaner that is safe for glass or you can use soapy water.

  • Be careful not to scratch your windshield with the razor blade. The windshield should be wet from the glass cleaner when using the razor blade to avoid any friction and possible scratching.

  • Peel the sticker slowly to avoid tearing it apart.
