How to Create Ringtones in Windows Media Player

Need to create your own ringtones?

Windows Media Player is a PC-specific music player and converter that comes with every Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 PC. Ringtones must be a specific length (usually between 15 and 40 seconds long). While there is no function in Windows Media Player itself to shorten a song, an additional plugin can allow you to create a ringtone in WMP. Users who wish to make their own ringtones must go through two steps: first, determine whether their cell phone uses either WMA, WAV or MP3 ringtones, and convert the desired song in Windows Media Player. Second, they must edit their song using the WMP Trimmer Plugin. Please note that converting songs may result in loss of audio quality, due to compression standards.
