How to Do a Reverse Lookup on Hostname

All computers have a unique Internet protocol (IP) address on the network. An IP address can be defined as a series of four numbers between 0 and 255 separated by decimal points. Performing a reverse lookup is simply translating a hostname to an IP address using a tool such as nslookup.

      Click "Start," and type "cmd" in the instant search field. The word "cmd.exe" appears in the list for you to choose.

      Type "nslookup" and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

      Type the name of a computer and press the "Enter" key. The IP address of the computer is displayed.
