How to Change the Ink Cartridge in a HP 6300 Printer

Printers do not have an unlimited supply of ink. When your ink cartridge runs out for your HP 6300 printer, you need to replace it. In some cases, you will notice that as your ink levels get low, your printing quality also becomes low. HP recommends that you change your ink cartridges when your printing quality diminishes or if troubleshooting your printer does not help solve any issues that may arise.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your HP 6300 printer, if necessary, by pressing the power button.

    • 2

Grab the bottom section of the display in front and lift up to open the carriage door. Wait for the printer carriage to come to a complete stop.

    • 3

Press down gently on the ink cartridge to release it from the cartridge slot, and then slide the cartridge towards the front of the section.

    • 4

Open the package for the replacement cartridge. Do not touch any areas of the cartridge that are not plastic.

    • 5

Remove the protective tape from the copper contacts and ink nozzle area.

    • 6

Place the cartridge into the proper slot, with the contacts facing the cartridge slot and the ink nozzle facing down.

    • 7

Push the cartridge forward into the slot until clicks into position. Close the carriage door.

    • 8

Insert blank printer paper into the input tray on the bottom. Press “OK” on the display panel. This starts the print cartridge alignment, which is automatically performed each time you change an ink cartridge.
