How to Make a Christmas Card Holder Out of a Pringles Potatoe Chip Can
Making Christmas crafts doesn't require expensive materials. Instead, you can use common items that you already have at home. You can even recycle an empty food container, such as a Pringles potato chip can, to create a holder for some of the Christmas cards you receive. Not only can this holder be attractive and festive, it will also help organize your cards.
Things You'll Need
- Sharp knife or hacksaw
- Ball of colored wool yarn or ball of curling ribbon
- Craft glue
- Decorative lace
- Christmas cards

1
Lay the Pringles can on its side and cut off the bottom of the can evenly, right above the metal end, with a sharp knife or hacksaw.
-
2
Unroll the end of a ball of yarn or ribbon and glue the end to the top, inside area of the can with craft glue.

3
Push the ball of yarn or ribbon down through the can and pull it out of the open end. Wrap the ribbon or yarn up the side of the can and then back down through the can and out of the end. Continue wrapping the can in this fashion until the can is completely covered with taut vertical strands of ribbon or yarn. Clip the end of the ribbon or yarn and glue it to the inside of the can.

4
Measure the circumference of the top of the can where you would attach the lid. Cut a length of lace that matches the circumference measurement. Apply craft glue to the rim of the can with your finger and secure the straight edge of the lace to the top edge of the can as a ruffle. Repeat with another length to decorate the bottom rim of the can.

5
Open a Christmas card and guide the left-hand edge under a piece of the yarn or ribbon until the crease or spine of the card is directly behind the ribbon or yarn. Repeat with other Christmas cards.

Tips & Warnings
If you have a large number of Christmas cards you want to display, consider making more than one card holder.
Children should not attempt to remove the bottom of the can with a knife or hacksaw due to this possibility of serious injury. An adult should complete this step before allowing children to complete this craft.
