How to Make Slipper Boots

How to Make Slipper Boots thumbnail
Re-purpose an old sweater to make boots.

Sweater boots are popular for their comfort and chic style. They can be worn with jeans for a casual look or paired with leggings and a skirt for a more dressed-up feel. These boots can retail between $20 and $100, but it is possible to cut down on costs by making them yourself at home. With some creativity and a sweater you are willing to recycle, you can construct your very own sweater boots.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Using the scissors, cut both sleeves off of the sweater, cutting along the shoulder seam.

    • 2

Place the detached sweater arms over the pair of flats, matching the fabric up with the outline of the sole of the shoe.

    • 3

Using the hot glue gun, glue the seam of the sweater securely to the edge of the sole. Repeat if necessary.

    • 4

Using the scissors, trim the top of your boot to your desired length.

    • 5

Using the needle and thread, finish the top of the boot by hemming it to prevent any unraveling.

Tips & Warnings

  • Buttons, embroidery or ribbons can be added to enhance and personalize your sweater boots.

  • Choosing a tighter-woven sweater will significantly decrease the probability of your sweater material unraveling while you are working on your boots.
