How to Make Slipper Boots

Re-purpose an old sweater to make boots.

Sweater boots are popular for their comfort and chic style. They can be worn with jeans for a casual look or paired with leggings and a skirt for a more dressed-up feel. These boots can retail between $20 and $100, but it is possible to cut down on costs by making them yourself at home. With some creativity and a sweater you are willing to recycle, you can construct your very own sweater boots.

Things You'll Need

• Pair of cheap flats or old shoes
• Sweater
• Hot glue gun with glue
• Needle
• Thread
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Using the scissors, cut both sleeves off of the sweater, cutting along the shoulder seam.

2. Place the detached sweater arms over the pair of flats, matching the fabric up with the outline of the sole of the shoe.

3. Using the hot glue gun, glue the seam of the sweater securely to the edge of the sole. Repeat if necessary.

4. Using the scissors, trim the top of your boot to your desired length.

5. Using the needle and thread, finish the top of the boot by hemming it to prevent any unraveling.

Tips & Warnings

• Buttons, embroidery or ribbons can be added to enhance and personalize your sweater boots.

• Choosing a tighter-woven sweater will significantly decrease the probability of your sweater material unraveling while you are working on your boots.
