How to Change the Registered Name in Windows
When you install a Windows operating system, you are asked for the name of the registered owner. This name is then placed in the system registry. If you would like to change this name at a later date, you do not have to reinstall the operating system. Instead, you can edit the name in the system registry.

Open the "Run" utility located under the "Start" menu.

Type the command "regedit" in the text box and click the "OK" button.

Click on the "+" next to "HKEY LOCAL MACHINE" on the left side of the screen. This will expand the menu to include more options.

Click on the "+" next to "SOFTWARE."

Click on the "+" next to "Microsoft."

Click on the "+" next to "Windows NT."

Click on the word "CurrentVersion" to bring up a list of options on the right side of the screen.

Right click "RegisteredOwner" and choose the "Modify" option.

Type the new name in the "Value" text box.

Close the "RegisteredOwner" and "Registry Editor" windows.

Reboot your computer.

Tips & Warnings
Editing the registry can damage the operating system. Do not make any changes to the registry without understanding what the changes will do.
