Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of one fence panel and add the width of the post to that measurement plus an allowance for the hangers and screws. The allowance for hangers is either 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch depending on the manufacturer. This will provide you with the exact measurements for posts to be on center. Dig postholes and set the poles in concrete so that they are level both vertically and horizontally.

    • 2

Let the concrete mix set overnight so that it cures.

    • 3

Hold a vinyl fence panel in between two posts and mark the position of the rails on the post with a carpentry pencil. This will provide accurate positioning of the rail hangers. Attach the rail hangers with screws by drilling them into the post with a drill or screwdriver until they are tight. Insert the rails on the fence panel into the rail hangers and screw them in tightly with screws.

Tips & Warnings

  • Vinyl fence panels may have two or three rails that are dependent on their height to attach into rail hangers on the fence posts.

  • It is helpful to have two people for installation so they can effectively level the posts and slide the rails into the hangers on both fence posts at the same time. Two people can hold the panels level easier than one person can.

  • On center is the measurement from the exact center of one post to the exact center of the next post.

  • Use a minimum length of 3/4 inch screws if the vinyl fencing supplies are purchased individually and not in a kit including hardware. This size screw will provide stability in the fence.
