Microsoft Windows XP’s Windows Security Center allows you to mange the security of your computer with ease from one place. You can configure the computer Firewall, Automatic Updates, and Internet security options from here. The status (On/Off) of the Firewall, Automatic Updates and Virus Protection settings is displayed on the Windows Security Center window. Windows XP automatically checks and displays the status of the anti-virus software installed on your computer in the Windows Security Center. You will also receive pop-up messages when one of these security utilities detects some security threat like unauthorized programs trying to run.

      Click on “Start” and then click on “Control Panel.”

      Double-click on the “Security Center” icon on the Control Panel window that opens.

      Click on the “Change the way Security Center alerts me” option below Resources on the left pane of the Windows Security Center window that opens.

      Click to unselect the check box for “Firewall,” “Automatic Updates” and “Virus Protection” on the Alert Settings dialog box that opens and then click on the “OK” button.
