How to Attach a Clamp Lamp
If you enjoy reading or working at home by soft light--or if you keep a pet lizard in a terrarium--you need to know about clamp lamps. Clamp lamps (or clip-on lamps) are designed to attach easily to the corner of a desk or shelf, so that they never fall over. They are used in terrariums to mimic the sun's heat. Attaching a clamp lamp to your desk is simple, and terrarium clamp lamps require just a little assembly. Does this Spark an idea?

Regular Clamp Lamp

1
Pick an open area on your desk or other surface, such as the corner of a shelf, to set your lamp. Clear away any papers, books and other items that could touch the bulb and spark a fire.
-
2
Insert a light bulb into the lamp. Clamp lamps for reading use a standard 40-watt bulb and require no assembly.
-
-
3
Press down on the wide end of the V-shaped clamp (or clip) and attach it firmly to the end of a desk or shelf. If the clamp uses a screw to open and close, turn the screw (left to loosen, right to tighten) to attach it. Plug the lamp in and turn it on.
