Instructions

    • 1

Remove the staples holding the bottom fabric in place with a staple remover. Remove the bottom fabric to reveal the jute or webbing on the bottom of the sofa. This layer is where the springs are attached.

    • 2

Tear out the stitches holding the broken spring in place with a seam ripper or scissors. Wind the spring through the webbing to remove it.

    • 3

Wind the new spring through the webbing and position in where the old spring was. Using a half-round upholstery needle, make several stitches to hold the spring to the webbing or jute. Tie off the stitches with a knot and trim the thread.

    • 4

Repeat steps 2 and 3, replacing one spring at a time until all the broken springs are replaced.

    • 5

Smooth the bottom fabric back over the webbing and staple it in place.
