Instructions

1
Scoop up as much of the glue from the carpet as possible. Use a spoon to carefully scoop up the glue, taking care not to transfer it to unaffected areas of the carpeting.
-
2
Blot up excess glue with a dry, white rag. Gently dab at the carpet without rubbing so as not to spread the glue. Switch to clean parts of the rag frequently as the glue begins to transfer from the carpet to the rag.

3
Pour 1 cup of lukewarm water into a bowl. Add 1 tsp. mild dish soap to the water. The dish soap should not contain bleach or alkalies as these may damage the carpet fibers.
-
4
Dip a portion of a clean, white rag into the bowl of soapy water. Wring out the rag slightly.
-
5
Blot the glue spot with the rag and soapy water. Continue blotting, switching to a clean portion of the rag, until the glue has lifted.

6
Fill a spray bottle with 1 tbsp. ammonia and ½ cup warm water. Spray the solution onto the glue-stained area of the carpet. Blot the carpet with a clean, dry rag. Continue blotting until you see no traces of the glue stain.

7
Fill another spray bottle with plain water. Saturate the affected area of carpeting with the water. Blot up the water with a dry rag to rinse the carpet free of any cleaning solution and/or glue.

Use dry cleaning solvent as an alternative method for removing glue from carpet. After removing as much glue as possible with a spoon and dry rag, moisten a clean rag with dry cleaning solvent. Blot the glue stained area of the carpet with the rag and cleaning solvent, adding more solvent and switching to clean portions of the rag frequently. Continue blotting until all of the glue has lifted.
