How to Deal With Lonely People
There are many reasons why people end up lonely. You may know someone who has never had the opportunity to marry, has lost a spouse, or is divorced. Some people are shy or have sociophobia. You may wonder how to fill the void for your friend or family member. There are several ways you can show them that they are not forgotten, and to help them feel loved.

Call them Even though you are busy with your own life, you can spare a few minutes daily or weekly to call your lonely friend. Something as simple as sharing emails or texting will let them know that you are thinking about them. If you feel they need more attention, you can take the time to go to their house and listen to them.

Go out for lunch Invite them out to lunch or to a movie for a change of pace. You could just go for a drive and talk or go to a shopping mall together. You could ask if they want to exercise or walk with you. This will lift a sad mood better than most other ways.

Be trustworthy When you lose a loved one or a long-term relationship ends it is very common to have difficulty opening up again to a trusting relationship. Let them know that you can be trusted by being consistent and dependable.

Take up Yoga Encourage them to take up a new hobby or activity. You could take a class together to learn a new skill. Art, dancing, sports, and playing an instrument are all good suggestions that would help your friend and yourself if you decide to do it with them. Feeling disconnected and lonely is a painful emotional state for people and can lead to physical and mental heath problems. Helping them find ways to be physically and mentally active will help them overcome their loneliness.

They will learn some coping strategies to help them. Give them some uplifting books, music or movies to enjoy.
