Remove the Shift Knob on a 1994 Ford Taurus Sho

The 1994 Ford Taurus SHO is part of the second generation SHO produced by Ford. The shift knob in your 1994 Ford Taurus in this generation uses simple retaining clips, as opposed to retaining screws (used in later models) to secure the shift knob to the shifter. Aftermarket shift knobs can add a distinctive look to the interior of your SHO. However, before you can add new shift knob, you need to know how to remove the old one.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the small notch cut into the base of the shift knob on your Taurus.

    • 2

Wedge the tip of a flat tip screwdriver into the notch.

    • 3

Pry up on the screwdriver to remove the shift knob. The knob is held in place with retaining tabs. You'll need to grab the top of the knob with one hand while prying the knob off.
