Instructions

    • 1

Clean the surface of dirt and debris. Apply the initial bonding layer. Wood surfaces require a 15-pound roofing felt and then a layer of 17-gauge metal netting over the felt. Apply a concrete bonding agent to a concrete, block or brick surface.

    • 2

Apply a layer of stucco 1/4- to 1/2-inch-thick with the plastering trowel. Press the stucco into the wire mesh. Spray the layer with water mist. Allow the stucco to cure for several hours.

    • 3

Utilize the plaster's rake to make scratches in the stucco to approximately 1/8-inch depth. Use a crisscross pattern. Allow the stucco to cure for an additional 24 hours. Spray with water occasionally as the layer cures to prevent it from drying out.

    • 4

Apply the second layer of stucco to the wall with the finishing trowel. The depth of this second layer should be 1/8 to 1/4 inch. Create a pattern if desired before allowing the stucco to cure for 24 to 36 hours. Continue to spray the stucco periodically during the curing process to prevent drying.

Tips & Warnings

  • Utilize the plasterer's hawk to hold the stucco when applying. If the wall will be painted wait at least six weeks and utilize a paint designed to be used on stucco.
