How to Create Flip Books
A flip book contains a series of images that change from one page to the next. When these pages are flipped in a rapid progression, you can view an animation created by the drawings. A flip book is a popular item for children because of its entertainment value. A flip book can also be an excellent arts and crafts lesson on the fundamentals of animation and drawing.

1
Plan how the animation will look on each page of your flip book. One example could be of a walking figure: the first frame shows the figure standing, the next frame shows the figure leaning forward with one foot in the air, and the next page has the figure standing in a different spot.
-
2
Sketch your planned animation on each page with a pencil. Use light marks so that you can erase or make changes to your drawing.

3
Flip through the book occasionally as you draw to check the quality of your drawings. You want to ensure that the drawings on each page animate smoothly.

Go over the outlines with a black marker when you are finished with your sketches. You can also add colors, if you prefer, by using colored markers.

Alternatively, you can also use plain, white index cards and staple them together at one edge to make another type of notebook.
