How to Charge Lithium Cell Phone Batteries
Many cell phones on the market today use lithium, lithium-ion or Li-ion batteries (these are different names for the same battery type). You can check for yourself to see if you have a lithium battery by removing the battery cover from your phone, looking on the battery on the top surface and look below the large letters and numbers. The battery should give a voltage and then the type of battery. If your battery says lithium ion, then you have a lithium cell phone battery. Charging this type of battery is very simple.

Keep the battery in the phone.

Plug the cell phone charger into the wall..

Plug the phone into the charger. Sometimes there will be a rubber flap protecting the charger port. Make sure you pull the rubber flap back before trying to plug in the charger. Check your owners manual for the exact location of the charger port.

Leave the phone plugged in for 1 to 5 hours.

Remove the phone from the charger.

Take the cigarette lighter out of the lighter port.

Plug in the car phone charger.

Plug the other end of the charger into the phone.
