How to Wrap a Shemagh Around the Neck

A shemagh is a traditional headdress worn in Arab countries to protect the wearer from sun, sand and the elements. These scarves have been used as a fashion item for decades and worn by military campaigners. There are several ways to wear a shemagh, including wrapping the garment around the neck. This is a popular fashion for participants in paintball, as it offers protection to the neck area beneath the mask.

Instructions

1. Fold the shemagh in half to form a triangle shape. There will be one long edge and two shorter edges to the triangle.

2. Hold the triangle ends across your chest, allowing the point of the triangle to dangle downward to the center of your chest. The long ends will wrap around your neck

3. Wrap the right end around your neck, letting the point hang down on your chest on the right side. Repeat with the left end, allowing the point to dangle. This will keep the scarf secure around your neck.

Tips & Warnings

• An alternate method to wrapping the shemagh around the neck is to fold it until it is rectangular, like a winter scarf, and wrapping several times around the neck.
