How to Troubleshoot a Microsoft Document Image Writer
Microsoft Office Document Imaging or MODI allows you to scan documents and save them as digital images. MODI saves files as either TIFFs (Tagged Image File Format) or MDIs (Microsoft Document Imaging). MODI also provides OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities so that you can transform a paper document to a digital document without having to recreate the data on your computer. Some of the most common issues with MODI arise after installing an Office Service Pack or update that overwrites the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer print driver.
