How to Debug Visual Studio 6 on Vista
Visual Studio 6.0 is a programming utility that includes Visual Basic 6.0 and can run many applications from the older Visual Basic programs.
Many errors have been reported in upgrading Visual Studio 6 to Vista and most go back to issues during the installation of the program. Once the initial installation difficulties have been overcome, debugging in Vista should run more smoothly.

Uninstall Visual Studio 6.0 from your computer, erasing any trace, including using Registry Editor to remove all Visual Studio 6.0 key folders.

Insert your installation CD. Go to the "Tools" menu in the beginning of the setup. Click "Change Option." Unclick the box next to "OLE/COM object viewer." Proceed with the installation of the program.

Download the latest service pack from the Microsoft website.

Extract the files from the service pack onto your desktop.

Run Visual Studio 6.0 by right clicking on the application and selecting "Run as Administrator." This prevents many bugs from occurring (even if you are already logged on as an administrator).
