Finding the Manufacture Date

1. Find the brand, model and serial number on the club head. The serial number will usually be found on the hosel near where the shaft enters the hosel and should be the same throughout the entire set.

2. Call the manufacturer. For a larger company club like Ping, Taylor Made or Titleist, customer service representatives are available to assist in searching the company records for an exact manufacturing date. Sets may have serial numbers on all or some of the clubs. The manufacturer can help determine if your club is made by them or if it is a knockoff if you do not have a hosel serial number.

3. Research, find and contact the company. Because golf club manufacturing is such a large industry there is a large knockoff industry as well. Finding the original manufacturer of your club can be tricky. Researching by brand and model will be most effective in finding the manufacturer, and contacting distributors of the clubs or components will help to find the original manufacturer.

4. Take the club to an authorized retailer and ask for assistance. If you cannot determine the club's manufacture date by finding the serial number or dealing with the club manufacturer over the phone, it is best to have the club inspected by a professional that can give you an accurate assessment and can even look up the manufacture date because of their relationship with the manufacturer.
