This type of sale takes place for various reasons, such as the death of the property owner or because the homeowner has to move and wants to liquidate their personal property. Finding these sales is easy, and attending them will definitely be worth your time and effort because you can find some really great deals.

      Check the classified section of your local newspaper for estate sales and auctions. Don't overlook your free local newspapers either, as they are also a great resource and normally specific to your town or county.

      Check online. There are many websites, such as EstateSales.net and GarageSaleFinder.com, that you can use to search for local estate sales that are happening in your area. Most of these websites have an email notification feature. Once you sign up for this service, you will then be automatically notified by email of upcoming sales in your area.

      Search the bulletin boards of your local supermarket and church bulletin boards for estate sales. These bulletin boards are full of great information because its free to advertise there and it's specific to the community.

      Drive around. Drive around your area, and look out for fliers and/or signs advertising upcoming estate sales. You'd be surprised as to how many estate sales you can find this way.

      Join a Yahoo! Group. Yahoo! Groups are a collection of community-based forums that people with the same interests join to connect and share information. Search the terms estate auction + your city and/or state to find a Yahoo! Group about estate auctions in your area. You may have to modify the terms a little, but once you find a group that interests you, join it.
