Contact a pest control company to remove the snakes from your basement. Many companies will remove the snakes and also look around to find out how the snakes entered your home. They may also help seal up your home to prevent further snake issues. Try and choose a company that will remove or trap the reptiles instead of using chemicals.

Try to physically remove them from the basement. There are tools such as snake hooks or snake tongs that can help in the safe removal of a snake. After getting a hold of the snake, you can then place it in a snake sack and proceed to relocate the snake as far away as you can from your house. There also are snake traps that you can buy. This works especially well if you don't want to catch the snake with a snake hook or tong. Once you remove the snake from your basement, you must determine how it got into the house in the first place. By carefully searching for any openings, you can then seal up the area and prevent a snake from coming into your home.

Lure a snake out of its hiding spot so that you can capture it. Place a heating pad or sunlamp in the area so that the snake will be drawn out by the warmth. The pungent odor of the mothballs will drive the snake out of its hiding spot so you can capture it and take it to another location. "Glue boards," which are available at most hardware stores, also can be placed against walls that the snakes frequent. Check the glue boards daily. Once the snake is captured, it can be released unharmed from the glue boards with common cooking oil.
