When you take the Moen faucet aerator off the faucet to clean sediment from the screen, it is important to keep all the pieces together. The aerator on your faucet introduces air into your water flow, which maintains or even increases the water pressure while using less water. Aerators in the past only had a screen and a washer. Today, aerators have different parts including a flow restrictor and a mixer. It is not difficult to reassemble your Moen faucet aerator once you have all your parts in front of you. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place the body of the aerator on a flat surface with the faucet end facing you. Set the outer housing into the aerator body. The outer housing is almost as tall as the aerator body and will have fins on one side. Point the fins down when installing into the faucet body.

    • 2

Set the screen inside the center of the outer housing and then insert the bushing into the outer housing and around the screen. The bushing is narrow and has a small opening and a larger opening. When inserting the bushing, place the smaller opening into the outer body and around the screen.

    • 3

Snap the flow restrictor on top of the mixer. The flow restrictor is a flat piece with a single hole in the center. The mixer will have several holes and has a shape similar to the bushing. The top of the mixer will be the side with the larger flat surface.

    • 4

Place the rubber washer into the bushing and then insert the mixer and flow restrictor inside the washer. Push down on the mixer until it seats inside the bushing. The top of the aerator assembly will be flush.

    • 5

Thread the aerator assembly into the end of the faucet spout until it is hand tight. Turn the aerator ¼-turn with a pair of channel lock pliers.
