Instructions

    • 1

Remove the existing flooring from the closet area. Find the studs in the wall with an electronic stud finder. Mark the locations of the studs with a pencil.

    • 2

Lay a cedar plank against the back wall of the closet with the grooved edge toward the floor. The plank has to be shorter than the width of the back wall. Nail the cedar plank to the back wall by nailing through the cedar plank into the wall stud. Use finish nails and a hammer or a pneumatic finish nailer to fasten the planks to the wall.

    • 3

Apply subsequent planks to fill the length of the back wall. Trim the cedar plank to fit the space with a miter saw.

    • 4

Apply the second and subsequent layers of cedar planking in the same manner as the first layer. Do not allow the seams between the cedar planks to line up. The structure of the cedar plank installation will be stronger if the seams between the planks alternate. Continue installing the cedar planks layer by layer until you reach the ceiling. Trim the final layer of planks to width as needed with a table saw.

    • 5

Install the side walls layer by layer in the same manner used to install the back wall. After the side walls are installed, install cedar planks on the ceiling and the floor to complete the project
