A New Orleans champagne cocktail is a wonderful drink composed of a single sugar cube, angostura bitters, orange bitters, bourbon and the champagne of your choice. While most champagne cocktails are traditionally made with Brut champagne, most prefer this cocktail with dry champagne to complement the sweetness of the bourbon. This recipe makes one New Orleans champagne cocktail, served in a traditional champagne flute, but you can easily multiply the ingredients if you need to make drinks for a group. Things You'll Need

  • Sugar cube
  • Champagne flute
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • ¾ oz. bourbon
  • Champagne, to fill
  • Orange peel, for garnish

      Drop a sugar cube into a champagne flute.

      Add the angostura bitters and orange bitters to the champagne flute containing the sugar cube.

      Add the bourbon to the champagne flute and let sit for one to two minutes.

      Pour enough chilled champagne into the champagne flute to fill the glass.

      Stir the cocktail and garnish with a twisted orange peel. Serve right away.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a slightly sweeter cocktail, try adding one tablespoon of simple syrup to the drink instead of a sugar cube.

  • Use the highest quality bourbon you can afford when making this cocktail. The bourbon really changes the flavor of the drink.
