Find an LCD that is right for you.

There are many different types of LCD televisions from which you can choose. Most of these televisions have different features, so depending on what you are looking for there is most likely an LCD television for you. They also range in price, which may play a role in determining what TV you buy. When looking at LCD TVs, either online on in a store, there are a few different features you need to take into consideration in order to accurately compare the LCD type.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the LCD resolution. It is either 720 or 1080. Although both are considered high-definition, 1080 provides a higher image quality.

    • 2

Look to see if the image is LED backlit. An LED backlit TV has a brighter image and provides more colors.

    • 3

Check the image refresh rate. The image refresh rate is how smooth your image is. A standard refresh rate is 60 Hz, while televisions with a higher refresh rate have 120 or 240 Hz. This is the number of times the television image refreshes every second.

    • 4

Look at the color contrast ratio. This is given in a reading such as 10000:1. This is the amount of colors the LCD television can produce. The higher the number, the more colors your TV creates.

    • 5

Check the price of the television. A higher price tag accompanies higher resolution, refresh rates and color contrast.
