How to Make Road Sign Art in Clipart

The Clip Art application in Microsoft Word allows users to produce fliers and memos with eye catching graphics. In addition to creating documents with arrows, banners, and phrase balloons, stop signs and yield signs can also be created. Making road side art in clip art is easy to do if directions are followed.

• Computer with Microsoft Word

Instructions

Open Word Document

1. 

   Follow Directions

   After booting up computer, click on "Start". The pop-up window will reveal Microsoft Word as an option with a light blue "W" icon. Left click the icon. On bottom left screen, the word "Draw" pops up, followed by "Auto Shapes". Left click on "Auto Shapes". Pop-ups will show:
   Lines
   Basic Shapes
   Block Arrows
   Flowchart
   Stars and Banners
   Call Outs

2. 

   Pick a Shape

   Move cursor to "Basic Shapes". A pop-up window will display stop-sign and yield-sign shapes. To make a stop sign, place the cursor over the octagon shape. The word "octagon" will pop up. Right click on the octagon. For a yield sign shape, click on "Flowchart" after selecting "Basic Shapes" and move cursor over the inverted triangle. The title Flowchart:Merge will pop up. 3. 

   Point and Click

   A blinking cursor will show up on a blank page. Left click the cursor and drag the mouse. Small squares will pop up. As the mouse is moved, click on small squares and drag. The size of the octagon will enlarge. Use the same procedure for all shapes.

4. 

   Wrap it Up

   Right click to reveal a pop-up window, and select "Add Text" to put words inside the sign. Begin typing words. When complete, right click and a pop up window will show Paste, Font, Paragraph. Left click "Font", left click on the font and color desired. The text should reflect selections, then left click "OK". Click "File", then click "Save As", name the document, and click "Print".
