If you've never held a needle before, decide what feels most comfortable while embroidering practice stitches.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Thread the needle.

  2. Step 2

    Grasp the threaded needle between your thumb and index finger.

  3. Step 3

    Work the needle in and out through the fabric or with an up-and-down stabbing motion, depending on the type of stitch.

  4. Step 4

    Try sewing with and without a thimble. You may want to wear one for certain types of stitches and not for others.
