Instructions to Make a Bowl Out of Craft Sticks
Craft sticks are a versatile material that can be used for a myriad of projects. While it may not be ideal for holding soup or any other kind of liquid, a craft stick bowl can hold all manner of knick-knacks, keys, magazines, and other things that you want to have on hand but which do not have a permanent place. Kids can also make craft stick bowls to give as gifts or to hold their keepsakes.

1
Spread newspaper over your table or work surface.
-
2
Lay three craft sticks on the surface of your table and dot each end with Elmer’s Glue.
-
-
3
Lay three other craft sticks on top of the original sticks by laying their ends on top of the glue dots to form a hexagon.
-
4
Continue to add to the height of the hexagon, stacking sticks on top of the first six that you glued together. To create a sloping bowl shape, build each new hexagon slightly wider than the one below it, causing the edges of the craft sticks to stick out.
-
5
Add layers to the height of the bowl until you have made it as high as you desire.
-
6
Allow the bowl to dry for twenty minutes.
-
7
Turn the bowl over so that the very first hexagon you built is facing up. You are now going to build the bowl’s base by sealing up the hole in the center of the hexagon.
-
8
Squeeze out enough Elmer’s glue to cover the surface of all six of the craft sticks.
-
9
Lay craft sticks next to one another across the hole in the center of the hexagon. Allow the base to dry for 30 minutes, then reinforce this covering by adding another layer of craft sticks running perpendicular to the original base.
-
10
Allow the basket to dry for 24 hours before putting anything in it.
